*Bumblebeeacres* English Angora Rabbit Colors of the Rainbow
Coat Color transitions of English Angora Bunnies from baby (kits) to adults (seniors). Some colors are missing at this point either the adult or the baby comparisions, we will be adding on to this page continuely. Not all English Angora colors are seen here, there are many more. The bunnies shown below are colors that we have personally experienced in our breeding program. (in basket above are; a lynx, 2 chestnut agoutis, a black, and REWs) White Classification SELF Group:
Ruby eyed whites (REW) Description: Color pure white. Eyes pink. The white wool is a wonderful choice for those considering a bunny for spinning as it can be dyed a multitude of colors. Blue eyed whites (BEW) Description: Color is pure white with blue eyes.
Lilac Pointed Description: Body is pure white with Lilac color on ears, feet, nose, and tail. Eyes pink. Colored Classification Self Group:
Black Description: Guard hairs and furred areas are deep black. Wool is dark slate, but may fade somewhat towards the skin.
Blue In the basket are 2 REWs, 2 Blue, and 1 Black kit. Description: Guard hairs and furred areas are dark blue. Wool is lighter blue.
Chocolate Description: Guard hairs and furred areas are dark chocolate. Wool is lighter chocolate which fades to dove gray near the skin. Lilac Description: Guard Hairs and furred areas are a dove gray (slightly pinkish). Wool becomes lighter near the skin. A study of color...
Chocolate, Lilac, Blue and Black
Tortoiseshell Varieties:
Tortishell (Tort) Description: Face, ears, feet, and tail are brown/black or dark smoke. Wool is dark fawn over the back, shading to smoky color on sides, legs and tummy. Can have black ticking in fawn areas.
Blue Tort Description: Face, ears, feet, and tail are blue. Wool over back is beige or almond color, shading to blue on sides, legs, and tummy. Can have blue ticking in beige areas. (In the pictures above, the blue tort is on the left in the first picture, and in the middle of 2 torts in the second picture)
Chocolate Tort Description: Face, ears, feet, and tail are chocolate color. Wool is fawn over the back, and becomes chocolate on the sides, legs, and tummy. Can have chocolate ticking in the fawn areas.
Lilac Tort Description: Face, ears, feet, and tail are lilac color. Wool is light fawn/cream over back, and becomes lilac on the sides, legs, and tummy. Can have lilac ticking in the fawn areas. ( pictured far left a lilac tort --- and a blue tort, picture on the right is an older lilac tort) Ticked Group:
Blue and Blue Steel The bunny on the right is a Blue Steel, he has tan/silver tipping. Blue Steel Description: Color is blue with guard hairs that are ticked with tan or silver. Belly and under tail may be lighter and may not be ticked. Agouti Group Chinchilla Varieties : Lilac Chinchilla Description: Color is a blend of Lilac and Pearl, ticked with Lilac tipped guard hairs. Has one or more bands of pearl alternating with shades of Lilac. Has a light Lilac undercolor.
Chocolate Chinchilla Description: Color is a blend of Chocolate and pearl, ticked with chocolate tipped guard hairs. Has one or more alternating bands of pearl and light chocolate. Has a dove gray undercolor. Blue Chinchilla (Squirrel) Agouti varieties :
Lynx Description: Color is light tan ticked with Lilac tipped guard hairs. Has one or more alternating bands of tan and light Lilac. Has a Light Lilac undercolor.
Opal Desription: Color is primarily blue, ticked with blue tipped guard hairs with one or more alternating bands of tan and blue. Has a light blue undercolor. (in the nest above the Opal kit is on the far left---on the far right is a chestnut kit, notice the difference in hair tipping color???)
Cinnamon Agouti Description: This one is not listed in the ARBA standard. I got the color description from a fellow Angora breeder, I liked it and it stuck. The coloring is similar to a chocolate agouti, but lighter with some lilac thrown in. A really beautiful color. ~This color variety is classed under agouti for showing~
Copper Agouti Description: Color is Rufus Red, ticked with jet black tipped guard hairs. Has one or more alternating bands of bright orange and dark slate. Has slate undercolor.
Chocolate Agouti Description: Color is chestnut ticked with Chocolate tipped guard hairs. Has one or more alternating bands of tan and light chocolate with a dove gray undercolor.
Chestnut Agouti Description: Color is Chestnut ticked with black tipped guard hairs. Has one or more alternating bands of tan and slate with a blue gray undercolor. Wide Band Group:
Fawn Description: Color is golden with white eye circles, inside of ears, nostrils, tummy and underside of tail.
Cream The kit on the left is a Fawn and the kit on the right is a Cream. Description: Cream color is a pinkish beige to almond. They have white eyes circles, inside of ears, nostrils, under chin, tummy, and underside of tail. May have white under color. Broken Group:
Broken Chocolate Description: Pure White body color plus any other angora color (needs to be between 10% and 50% of overall coat color) in a blanket pattern over the back or in spots that are evenly distributated. Color is to be on both ears, eye circles, nose marking ( no preference for butterfly or evenly balanced nose spots).
Broken Blue Tort Description: Same as the Broken Chocolate above except this color is blue tort.
